Acer has unveiled its new line of ConceptD PCs geared towards content creators.
From a gaming perspective, devices specified for content creation may not be your first choice when you are looking for a new gaming PC, but these pack some serious graphical grunt.
With streaming and VoD here to stay, and growing exponentially year on year, gaming content creators are looking more and more towards an all-in-one solution. At the moment, many creators often use multiple PCs to handle their gaming and editing. Not everyone has enough space for this kind of setup, though, and if you have to move it around with you, it can be a logistical nightmare.
Enter ConceptD
These devices have enough horsepower to handle fast, high-end video editing processes, as well as being able to play the latest games thanks to their RTX Series GPUs. If you have a passion for producing gaming content, these PCs are well worth a look.
ConceptD 300 – Small and Powerful
ConceptD desktops look gorgeous in their pure-white colourway capped with a beautifully finished wood panel and can be paired with a matching monitor.
The beautiful styling is also very practical, and thanks to Acer’s focus on acoustics, the ConceptD 300 maintains peak volume levels under 40 dBA. That’s as quiet as a library! Whether it can maintain these levels during gaming sessions remains to be seen, but it will be highly impressive if it can run this quietly all the time.
Fitted with (up to) a 10th Gen Intel® CoreTM i7 processor and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 3070 graphics, the ConceptD 300 will run AAA games with ease but the huge 64 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz memory will also allow you to effortlessly power through video editing and live streaming without the need for a separate system.
Ergonomically designed I/O ports are concealed within the front panel, with the full PC combining a range of useful ports, including multiple USB 3.2 ports, an integrated SD card reader and a USB Type-C port for multi-display use and supporting data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps.
ConceptD 7 Series Notebooks
These notebooks are designed for content creators who frequently work away from their home setup. Performance and colour precision is critical to anyone working in media production, and these notebooks include powerful processors and GPUs, high-quality displays and superior cooling technology.
A feature I haven’t seen before, and increasingly relevant with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, is a special solid ceramic protective layer on their metal surfaces that not only provides strength to the notebook, it acts as an anti-microbial layer that resists dirt and yellowing. The latter being very important when you have an all-white PC.
Both of the updated ConceptD 7 notebooks deliver desktop-level performance with 10th Gen Intel® Core processors, Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), Thunderbolt 3 technology and 4K IPS displays.
WiFi 6 is up to 3X faster than standard 802.11ac 2×2 80 MHz (867 Mbps), which reduces latency and improves performance while gaming and streaming.
The ConceptD 7 Pro features (up to) a powerful NVIDIA® Quadro RTX 5000 GPU, equipped with 3072 CUDA Cores, 48 RT Cores, 384 Tensor Cores and 16GB of ultra-fast GPU memory: This GPU has performance for days, and will effortlessly run games and streaming apps simultaneously.
The ConceptD 7 includes NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs (up to RTX 2080 Super), which are ideal for gaming and creating videos for YouTube or live streaming games to Twitch.
After the presentation we were given a brief look at the ConceptD 7’s display, and it looks exceptionally good. The brightness is staggering, especially for a non-HDR laptop display.
15.6-inch UHD (3840 x 2160) 4K IPS, PANTONE® Validated displays feature a wide colour gamut (100% Adobe RGB) and colour accuracy of Delta E<2, which is highly accurate and essential for colour critical work.
Utilising Acer’s patented Vortex Flow cooling system that combines Acer’s 5th Gen Aeroblade fan technology and thermal cooling technology, these laptops run almost silently, even under heavy loads.
Updated USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports enable faster connections (up to 10 Gbps), while Thunderbolt 3 provides faster file uploads and transfer speeds at 40Gbps. DisplayPort over USB-C enables quick and seamless connections with multiple displays. The touchpad has also been upgraded with Corning® Gorilla® Glass for smooth and accurate input.
Finally, DTS® X: Ultra provides superior audio quality, key for live streaming, presentations and online meetings.
