A new trailer has been released for the JRPG that is trying to be different
Spike Chunsoft is going heavy on the hype for their upcoming JRPG, AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative. Following the gameplay trailer, a new trailer featuring the characters arrived this week.
Depicting gorgeous character designs and excellent artwork, you may wonder why this game is different from the plethora of other JRPG games on the market. For me, it is not just the exciting visuals but also the mature themes of the story blended with a unique gameplay loop.
“Six years ago, the right half of a corpse was discovered.
The left half was never found…until six years later, completely fresh with no signs of decay.
Now, Special Agents Mizuki and Ryuki, along with their AI partners Aiba and Tama, are tasked to solve the bizarre Half Body serial killings while unveiling the mysterious plot known only as the Nirvana Initiative…“
The gameplay trailer sheds a little light on the depth of the investigation systems, alongside the futuristic setting you’ll be exploring.
“Play as the two main protagonists Mizuki and Ryuki who are members of a special investigation team inside the Metropolitan Police Department, ABIS, to solve a case.
The game consists of two parts. In the “Investigation” part, players will examine crime scenes and listen to testimonies. In the “Somnium” part, players enter the dream worlds of suspects and key witnesses.
Moving back and forth between the two parts, players can obtain the clues that can help them solve the case.“
In a market flooded with the usual character tropes and synopses, nothing gets us more excited than a new game that dares to be different and forge its own identity. Will this gamble pay off?
