It’s been a long time coming, but finally, to the relief of many fans, the Playstation Exclusive game Ghost of Tsushima is back on the gaming radar, and not, as some rumours have said, dead in the water.
It was way back at PGW 2017 that the debut trailer of an astonishing looking Samurai themed game was shown.
Then at E3 2018, a gameplay trailer of breathtaking beauty, intriguing story, and excellent looking combat in an open-world gameplay setting for the same game dropped, and some would say, stole the show.
Shortly after, it was possible to pre-order the game on some retailers’ websites, which gave the impression that sometime in the next few months or even early 2019, we would be able to buy and play the game, but then, nothing….. In fact, and very worryingly, a whole load of nothing for a very long time. For nearly a whole year there hasn’t been a squeak about the game from PlayStation or developer Sucker Punch.
A rumour started floating around that there was a licencing issue with the game’s engine, and if true, the entire game would have to be developed from the ground up all over again, if at all! It was at this stage I personally feared we were about to get another Scalebound episode (a hack and slash adventure game, deep into its development, only to then be canned). As absolutely no positive news was forthcoming about the development of the game, I, and I expect many others, cancelled their pre-order of the game to order something else (for myself, The Last of Us 2).
The next rumour floated was that Ghost of Tsushima was going to be a PlayStation 5 launch title, whenever that would be, and looking at the graphics of the gameplay and trailers it wasn’t hard to believe. Therefore it made sense to “park” any hopes of playing the game until the beginning of the PlayStation 5 era.
It seems that all that conjecture, true or not, can now be put to rest, as on the 12th of December 2019, a new trailer with a release date window of Summer 2020 has been confirmed, and we at Total Gaming Addicts couldn’t be happier to finally get some more concrete news of this highly anticipated game.
