It’s finally here, prepare for takeoff!
Less than a year after it launched for PC, Xbox Series X|S owners can take to the skies with Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Research and opinion polls show that the majority of people’s first flight is to see their home. Where will you choose to visit as your first destination? (I crashed into my house in a 737.)
When can you start playing?
Download and installation size
The base game installation takes up 97.2GB on Xbox Series X|S consoles, however, by removing the Offline Mode download, this can be shrunk to 42.4GB. Offline Mode includes a basic world map so you can still play if you have low bandwidth or a spotty (or no) connection.
Pre-downloads are available already, so if you want to play it soon, or at launch, you can get a head start on the massive install.
Additionally, some of the World updates will be available to download, which will take up more space on your SSD, along with other DLC such as additional aircraft. Until the game launches we don’t know the theoretical maximum install size, but it’s likely to be one of the biggest games eating your limited storage space.
Xbox One family consoles
Microsoft Flight Simulator is not playable on Xbox One devices, however, when Cloud Gaming comes to the consoles later this year (hopefully), that should allow players on the older consoles to don their flight suits and head into the clouds.
