The LS 25, what can i say i am blown away by this wicked piece of kit.
Let’s start with design, it’s a snazzy looking headset with an attractive leather headband, branded with LucidSound on the top, and a nice diamond pattern on the bottom. It’s comfortable, and it looks really nice. Moving down we have some super big and comfy ear cups made of foam and leather, which are pretty good at noise isolation; I have had better but not by much.
The cup surrounds are red metal bands that both look good and provide a strong durable feel and fit to the headsets, also they provide both up-and-down swivel as well as side-to-side swivel.
On the cups, they are the centrepiece of the whole design, they have one rotating cup on the left that is your on board volume control and the left cup is a button to toggle your mute control, these are insanely useful in my opinion, it is a individual thing but i loved that I can just click to mute when I do noisy things or if you fancy a sneaky pack of Doritos between games and you don’t want everyone hearing you crunch away.
The only downside to this design is that the volume control cup has a bit of a nasty sound to it where the two plastics scrape against each other; I can’t lie, it’s one of those noises that makes you want to clench your teeth, but once you are in game and all sounds are go, its not noticeable, so I’d say take that with a pinch of salt, as it’s a very individual bug.
The sound quality is no slouch, I have to admit I was really impressed that it performed as well as it did, usually a plug and play headset is pretty average in actual performance over quality, but whether its an Eq or some kind of tuning, the LS25 has almost a super human hearing vibe. It pinpoints all the sounds you want to hear, usually the exact sounds that push you to invest in a premium headset.
So I’d have to say yeah, it’s definitely a E-sports headset, directional sound is also on point to impress, and it’s a whole lot better than some other gaming oriented headsets I have used in the past, especially when you get an E-sports level of performance from a plug and play headset, something that usually requires a separate set of controls.
I tested this headset for hours on both my Xbox and PS4 on a variety of games ranging from Fortnite to Forza Horizon 4, andI even gave it a go around town, just popped the mic out and plugged it into my phone – still amazing audio quality.
Lastly, the mic. I was quite impressed, its extremely clear and that is becoming a bigger and bigger requirement these days, with voice communication becoming essential in a lot of competitive games and for content creators and streamers, the LS25 has you really well covered in this area.
Summary
Over all I can confidently say I like the LS25 a lot, it’s comfortable with great performance and its a lot of bang for your buck in its price range.
Also another pro that really is just a personal preference, is that it’s one of very few quality gaming headsets that doesn’t have the usual angular gamer look. In my opinion it’s stylish and unique enough to be passed off as a normal everyday high-end music headset.
Lastly, and it’s really silly, but i love that they come with a sticker, i have no idea why, but to me when a company sends a sticker in the box with your product, that shows confidence to me, almost as if they are saying “yeah, you are going to want to show you are using a LucidSound product”.
They are available now to purchase, so if you want to bag yourself a pair head over to LucidSounds website and experience them for yourself:
