When producer Kazunori Yamauchi’s name came on the screen, there was no doubt what was coming next.
As a current GT Sport player, and as someone who has played all of the Gran Turismo games from the past, I felt this trailer was underwhelming. Sure the car porn shots are great, but the in-car graphics looked identical to the current game.
The track the cars were racing on, though, was the return of an old favourite, Trial Mountain. Added to the current roster of circuits this will be a great and welcome addition. The lighting and effects while screaming around Trial Mountain look excellent, and hopefully, this level of detail extends to all of the other tracks.
We also got a brief glimpse of the career hub, which was very reminiscent of Gran Turismo 4’s career hub: Despite the fancy lighting, it looks surprisingly plain and dated compared to most current racing games.
Ultimately this trailer left us with more questions than excitement for what is to come, though.
