Sifu, one of the most exciting games this winter, is from one of the smallest teams.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the hype for the imminent arrival of Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, but there’s another exciting, new, and interesting release to look forward to – Sifu, from developer SloClap, is an innovative martial arts action game, created by a studio comprising of just thirty employees.
“ON THE PATH OF VENGEANCE
The hunt for the assassins of your family will take you through the hidden corners of the city, from gang-ridden suburbs to the cold hallways of corporate towers. You have one day, and countless enemies on your way. Time will be the price to pay.“
Sifu brings a new take on the up-close and personal combat that only true martial arts games can bring. This genre of gaming is fairly underrepresented; In recent years we’ve had titles like the Yakuza and Judgement series filling in with epic kung fu and in your face melee action, but we need more!
Sifu is looking to set itself apart and forge its own path with authentic martial arts moves, gorgeous cell-shaded visuals and attention to detail in all other aspects, including the audio, which is featured in a new trailer here.
These elements are combined with a unique gameplay mechanic where each death allows the player to become stronger, but also ages your character. It looks like Sifu is going to be one intriguing game to play.
Sifu will release to a worldwide audience on the 8th February 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and for Windows PC on the Epic Games Store.
