Its no secret old games and mobile games are making a huge impact on the ID titles and smaller developers for consoles right now. Sparkle 2 is a follow on from Sparkle Unleashed Sparkle title that came out last year. Read the Sparkle Unleashed review
Set at budget prices and packing loads of in-game features and addictive game play anyone can pick up this title and get enjoyment out of it.
Going right back to the earlier Xbox consoles you may remember Zuma and Zumas revenge, well this is the new upgraded, polished and more challenging next gen version.
For those of you not familiar with Sparkle it is a Marble action shooter that progresses through 90 levels firing marbles at chains of different coloured marbles that progress through ever more difficult and challenging paths to reach the end before you can chain them together and make them disappear. Simple right? No anyone familiar with games like this or even the hit mobile titles like Candy crush will know that at first is harmless fun, then addictive then frustratingly hard.
Sparkle 2 offers 16 power upgrades as you play making clearing those marbles that bit easier and set is a enchanting forest story mode it offers that little bit more than similar titles seen previously.
The life of games like this depends on your addictive need to complete the simple challenges that are annoyingly hard as you go through and also the number of modes you can play.
Sparkle 2 offers 4 modes:
- Story,
- Survival,
- Challenge
- Cataclysm (Exclusive to Xbox One)
Each mode will unlock as you progress through the Story and the power upgrades will also unlock as you complete more story levels, be sure to change your power upgrades as different ones will help you out in certain missions.
Bright colors adaptive music as you get closer to losing the level and what I suppose sums this up well a obvious game style delivered as it should be makes Sparkle 2 a great game however….
Its just not really offering anything different. 4 modes are great but its like Tetris they are all the same really and for me this is a major let down, sorry 10tons, but we need more variety.
