Total Gaming Addicts are the proud new sponsor of the Elite Tier Racing eSports team.
ETR are a friendly group of racers, who primarily focus on Forza Motorsport 7. They also happen to have some of the best drivers, too.
ETR host many of their own series, with events going on most nights of the week. Anyone can ask to join, and they are a welcoming group that caters to gamers of any level, offering help and advice freely.
More recently, however, they have been competing in official, highly-competitive race events featuring some of the best drivers in the world.
TORA (The Online Racing Association) bears the mantle of being the first online sim-racing organisation to be officially recognised by an official motorsports organisation (2010 – Approved by the Motorsports Association UK (MSA)).
ETR is competing in the official TORA British GT eSports Championship 2020.
On Sunday, 28th June 2020, ETR raced in the second meeting of the British GT eSports Championship at Hockenheim, fielding a team of five drivers.
Mike Smits (ETR MRMAGIK)
- ETR Team Pink, 2015 McLaren 570S (GT4)
- Qualifying position and lobby – race 1: Lobby 6, Pos 6th
- Finishing position race one: 2nd
- Starting position race two: 2nd
- Finishing position race two: 5th
“I benefited from cars coming together at the hairpin on lap 1, where I could evade and gain position. Maintained safe gap of 5 secs from third place until the finish.
Race 2, I was battling for the lead on the opening lap, but made a small error by running wide, costing valuable time and places. I gained 3rd, but as the rain increased my pace somehow dropped and I lost 2 more places because of GT3 traffic catching me in a tough spot.”
David Starley (ETR Demonic)
- ETR Team Pink, 2015 McLaren 570S (GT4)
- Qualifying position and lobby – race one: Lobby 2, Pos 6th (15th overall )
- Finish position race one: 6th
- Starting position race two: 6th
- Finishing position race two: 5th
“(I had) Some good battling with AMS Storm in race 1, and although I got punted into the gravel by a GT3 car I still came home with a solid result. Race 2 in the rain was a tricky one with the McLaren having bad brakes and bad understeer. Another battle with AMS Storm ensued but, in the rain, the Aston couldn’t quite keep up, so I came home with a 5th place. A decent night considering Hockenheim isn’t my best track. 👍”
Anthony Richards (ETR WARRIOR)
- ETR White, Porsche Cayman (GT4)
- Qualifying position and lobby – race 1: Lobby ?, Pos 4th
- Finishing position race one: 4th
- Starting position race two: 4th
- Finishing position race two: 4th
“Race 1 was a fight for first until lap three, then I ended up fighting for 2nd place. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and stayed in 4th, pitted early to hopefully make some time up but didn’t plan out so finished in 4th.
Race 2 was wet and horrible, and for some reason I got overtaken by three cars on the first lap. I took my time and fought back, manage to claw back to 3rd. I got caught up by three GT3 cars fighting for the win, which slowed me down, then on the last lap the 4th placed car in the GT4s pushed me wide, meaning I came 4th again.”
Daniel Wilkinson (ETR DAN)
- ETR Team Pink, 2015 McLaren 570S (GT4)
- Qualifying position and lobby – race 1: Lobby 4, Pos 5th
- Finishing position race one: 8th
- Starting position race two: 8th
- Finishing position race two: 7th
“I had a bad start, though I managed to get a few places back while avoiding GT3 cars for both races. I had some nice battles with MRT Jackal but aside from that my races were uneventful.”
Riaz Osman (ETR Triad)
- ETR Blue, BMW M4 (GT4)
- Qualifying position and lobby – race 1: Lobby 5, Pos 3rd
- Finishing position race one: 3rd
- Starting position race two: 3rd
- Finishing position race two: 5th
“Race one I started 4th but got a good run into T1 so was able to stick closely to FACR pwillie in front. I had a bit of a rub with 5th place trying it around the outside of myself but it was fair.
After that, I settled down and started pushing forwards along with one of the DDM boys. I finally got back behind FACR pwillie and dispatched him once he made a mistake (I was really trying to put pressure on him).
After that, it was just clean driving to solidify my 3rd place and finish.
The second race, I started 3rd and had great pace, and managed to close the gap up to the two front runners after being pressured by a few of the guys.
I pitted early along with Maynard mk4 and this proved to be the right call, as we missed the GT3s coming through.
I was making gains on the front two but got sucked into a battle with Maynard, who put me under some real pressure. I was holding out with a few laps to go, then bam… dreaded sim twitch in the rain and dropped to 5th. The group was that close that any mistake meant significant losses… I caught 4th up but with no more laps, I was out of time.
Overall, I genuinely loved it and looking forward to Silverstone.”
The next round of the TORA British GT Championship is at Silverstone, on the 19th July.
