If you were to ask what one of the best Playstation 4 games is, chances are it wouldn’t be long before someone mentioned the highly acclaimed JRPG, Persona 5. The game currently has a Metacritic score of 93/100. It is, without a doubt, one of the finest exclusive games you can play on the PS4.
The upcoming Persona 5 Royal isn’t just an expansion to the game as you may think, however, as through the introduction of new characters, locations, gameplay mechanics and key story elements, it looks to have significantly changed the core story arc behind the original version of the game. If you’ve already played Persona 5, it remains to be seen whether the AAA price tag attached to Royal is justifiable for what is essentially a reworking of the existing game, but for anyone new to Persona 5, this looks like it will be the definitive version.
Without wanting to get bogged down explaining the details of the new gameplay mechanics which only previous players will understand, we here at Total Gaming Addicts will give you a brief run-down of why this is the version of the game you should dive into if you have never played Persona 5.
1 – There are new characters and confidants. One of these new characters, Kasumi Yoshizawa, plays a major role in the narrative in a brand new story arc, on top of the base game.
2- New story elements and a whole new semester at the academy.
3- More story arcs; cut-scenes, which will now be replayable; and alternate endings for more replay value.
4- New locations to explore on top of what’s already in the base game.
5- New gameplay mechanics, persona partner attacks, and a grappling hook to make it easier to initiate surprise attacks.
6- Much more customization to your own Thieves Den.
7- And of course, more personas to play with.
So as you can see, with the introduction of a whole new character to play through with, who looks set to distinctly change the events and outcome of the entire game, Persona 5 Royal is sure to be a highly refined and more expansive version of the game Atlus released three years ago.
Persona 5 achieved remarkable review scores, so one can only speculate just how much more magnificent the game could be with all of this additional content. Join us at Total Gaming Addicts as we hope to find out, when Persona 5: Royal Edition releases on the 31st March 2020.
