Currently free on Xbox Gold, Tumblestone takes an old tetris style platform and twists it into something…….. well read on to find out.
The queen of the Nile is trying to get to a restaurant for some food, but her path is blocked by Tumblestones, OH NO! What should we do?
It’s quite a simple game, blocks appear at the top of the screen and you have to choose 3 of the same colour blocks for them to disappear, obviously if you choose the wrong blocks you fail and have to restart.
Yup that’s about it, as levels progress it gets harder and there are harder levels where you have 3 stages to complete to pass, blocks start falling down to slow you down, but after some trial and error you should pass most levels with relative ease.

Visually it’s a bright and appealing game, no realistic graphics in this world but it’s not expected. Tumblestones are easy to distinguish with their varied colours and the level backgrounds vary as you progress through the game to stop complete boredom setting in.
Cut scenes are also bright and a bit, well bizarre at times but for the most part as you can see from the video below it’s just about giving some sort of story to this otherwise extremely simple concept. Frankly I would have been happier not to have had a story, I feel it’s just a waste between levels.

Summary
So they took an old concept that on mobile platforms has been done to death over the past few years. It’s been created for consoles and like some other ones I have reviewed in the past, it just doesn’t feel right on a big screen playing this or any other tetris style game. But it’s the price I’m amazed at; £14.99, WOW! For this I would not expect to pay more than £4.99 so for me this game takes an old tetris style platform and twists it into something overpriced and uninspiring.
