CES 2020 is in full swing, and ASUS has come out swinging, announcing a whole raft of new hardware.
In amongst all of these announcements came news of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, with an absolutely powerhouse spec sheet.
AMD Ryzen 7 processor? Check. 32Gb of DDR4 memory? Oh yes. A whopping 1Tb of SSD storage? You better believe it! GeForce RTX 2060 GPU? <crumples on the floor>
With these specs, the Zephyrus G14 is set to be the most powerful notebook on the planet. This mating of AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series CPU and Nvidia’s RTX series GPU is a potent combination, and it will be more than enough to power ultra settings gaming on the 120Hz/1080p display (which is more than adequate for a 14″ screen).
Storage comes courtesy of an included 1Tb SSD, which these days is pretty much a necessity, to be honest. There’s no mention of any additional HDD, but with the relative affordability these days of huge external solutions, it’s not a concern.
The Zephyrus G14 doesn’t stop there either. Weighing in at only 1.6kg and with a thickness of just 17.9mm, this is a remarkably tidy package. It’s not too bad looking either, with both the deep black and creamy white variations looking extremely appealing (I want the white one! Please? ASUS?)
On the rear of the lid, ROG has incorporated what they are coining the AniMe display, which can light up with a variety of patterns or images. Necessary? Not at all. Do we want it anyway? Heck yes! While the implications are largely cosmetic, we’re sure it won’t take long for someone to develop a practical application for it, and even if they don’t, it just looks cool as hell!
