(It goes without saying that this post may contain spoilers. With Microsoft’s E3 Briefing happening very soon it won’t be long until we have hard facts to go on, so if you don’t want to potentially ruin the surprise, stop reading now! -Ed)
Hear ye, hear ye to all Albion residents – according to LagSwag1 on a since deleted post on Reddit, we’re all going to perish!
It’s been doing the rounds recently that Playground Games (Forza Horizon developer) would be taking the Fable franchise under its wing and giving us a long-awaited fresh game to follow the original Fable trilogy. Also, to add fuel to the fire, Playground Games are hiring for a new open world action/RPG project. With Lionhead Studios closing back in 2016 fans all over celebrated at the idea of seeing the Fable RPG come back to life.
Now, just days before E3 graces us with new titles and releases, it seems that details of the new addition have been leaked online. This confirms that not only is a game in the works but there are some big changes coming our way too!
The now deleted post on Reddit should be taken lightly, as it’s not the first time that information of a hotly anticipated game has been leaked only to be a spoof.
The post claims that Fable 4 won’t take place in Albion or Aurora, these lands have been “reduced to fables”. You can thank a Mad King for this who has rebuilt the Spire and used its power to wish for an asteroid to strike the planet (seems like a nice guy!). He’s also wished for it to happen again in the “far future”, helpful!
“Eons later” and here begins your story in a new, medieval themed continent. It’s up to you to stop the destruction of the planet, no biggie. Apparently Theresa and a Heroes Guild are there to help you having preserved themselves on another planet, after escaping through a demon door. And guess who else is back? The Jack of Blades, yay!
There are big changes in store to the core gameplay though, the story will heavily involve time travel in an open world which is nothing that we haven’t seen a few times before but this time Fable 4 will have no guns, so buckle up for either some nice stealthy missions or sword fights galore.
The player will be able to choose between first or third person and the game will feature an in-depth character creator allowing you to tailor your characters looks in game. Although, that’s not the only thing you can tailor, apparently you can even ignore the main quest completely and never become a hero! You can build your own town which will tie into the main quest heavily if you end up getting the “bad” ending.
It all seems very “Majora’s Mask” but at the moment I’m excited to see whether we will get any news at the Microsoft E3 conference on Sunday.
