If you’re looking at the main image thinking, “I know that guy,” that’s because you probably do.
That is Giancarlo Esposito, better known as Gustavo Fring. Proprietor of Los Pollos Hermanos and kingpin of a meth empire in Breaking Bad. It has been confirmed that Esposito will be playing main villain Anton Castillo.
He is the perfect casting for the role in a Far Cry game. The villains have always been highly intelligent, cold, calm and calculated but with a vicious streak a mile wide. Giancarlo’s superlative performance in Breaking Bad is the epitome of the perfect Far Cry villain. Well-spoken, decisive, and utterly ruthless.
The leak comes from a store page, that has been translated into English by fans:
It’s good to see Ubisoft embracing free next-gen updates for people who purchase the current-gen version. Although the store page only mentions PlayStation family devices, considering Microsoft’s recent push to encourage all developers to support its Smart Delivery system (free next-gen upgrades), it’s safe to assume it will be the case.
Some returning features that we are happy to see are Guns for Hire, now rebranded Fangs for Hire, that were used to good effect in Far Cry 5 (I spent most of the game with a dog and a bear following me around). Two player online also strongly hints that the campaign co-op from the last game is returning. It was one of the best co-op campaign experiences in recent memory, and I can’t wait to share my hijinks with a friend.
Top this off with the largest Far Cry map to date, a luscious tropical setting and the free-form gameplay the series is known for, and this is looking at being a great title that will no doubt look incredible on next-gen systems.
Far Cry 6 is scheduled to launch on 18th February 2021, however, this could be subject to change following official confirmation.
Tune in to Ubisoft Forward on Sunday 12th July 2020 for the official reveal.
