Hitman Trilogy is coming to consoles, along with Hitman VR and the long awaited Steam release of Hitman 3.
January 20th marks the day that the Hitman Trilogy, which encompasses all of the games from the “World of Assassination” series, will be available on Xbox One, Series X|S, PS4, PS5, as well as simultaneous release on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Google’s streaming service, Stadia.
This is the first time Hitman 3 will have been available on Steam, and coincides with the launch of the all-new VR mode – previously, Hitman 3 only had official support on PSVR. Improvements for PC over the console versions include higher frame rates, hardware based ray tracing, numerous fidelity enhancements, as well as VRS, which should help the graphically intensive game run across a wider range of hardware.
Of particular interest to players on the Xbox platform, Hitman Trilogy is launching into Game Pass on day one. This includes both Xbox and PC Game Pass, which is a huge announcement,
Hitman VR, formerly PS VR exclusive, is definitely coming to Steam, but IOI mentions that full technical details, including the platforms they will be supporting, will be revealed before Year 2 starts on 20 January 2022. What’s interesting about that is the use of the word ‘platforms’, plural. Steam currently has the majority stake in VR when it comes to content, with Epic Games Store having a much smaller number of games, and Xbox with almost no official support. With this in mind, we may see Hitman VR on Epic Games Store, and maybe even Quest 2 in some capacity given its popularity, but I’m not holding my breath for a PC Xbox VR release, unfortunately.

Tying in with the launch of the Hitman Trilogy, IO Interactive has also announced the Year 2 content will begin on the 20th January, with post-launch support confirmed for another 12 months. New maps, storylines, modes and ways to play are all lined up for 2022.
