Mario Kart Arcade GP VR review from Hollywood Bowl Tunbridge Wells

Last year some of you may remember our review of the Hollywood Bowl VR Zone Portal.

Well now they have changed it around and we were there for the most highly anticipated game to arrive on our shores with VR, Mario Kart arcade GP VR.

Now who doesn’t love Mario Kart? Exactly we have all had a go, screamed, laughed, cried and celebrated over the amazingly simple yet addictive and fun game for years now and as a avid gamer I had high hopes for this new offer from the Hollywood Bowl VR Zone portal in Tunbridge Wells.

WOW, WOW, WOW there is no other way to describe the feeling when you sit in the chair with full air system to provide a realistic feedback and movement of your Kart , gloves on hands hands on wheel and were off, screeching off the line the chair moving and bumping along the surface of the track, VR headset firmly fixed looking all around to really take in the most immersive gaming experience I have ever experienced.

The first corner arrives and i turn the wheel with others all around me i get bumped and the seat again jolts me and my grip on the wheel adjusts to aid me turning better into the next corner, were flying , LITERALLY were flying, straight off the huge jump and the seat and VR headset really give the sensation of the jump like nothing else I have experienced.

Then it hits me, I’m not joking it did hit me, I had missed the first power up and someone behind me had whacked me with the hammer, I should have listened to the guy at the beginning and put my hand out to collect power ups, no matter I was ready for the next one hand out, power up grabbed and I hurled it (seriously you literally throw it) beside me as someone was attempting to overtake me, BANG there in a spin and I’m off again.

This was amazing I was having so much fun, grabbing the power ups, looking around me, feeling the movement of the kart nothing in my 30 plus years of gaming even comes close to this.

I wont say if I won or not (suppose you can guess I didn’t from that) but it didn’t matter, the experience was like no other, being able to chat to my son in the other kart as well and hear how much fun he was having made it all the better seeing him grab power ups and really immerse himself in the experience like myself made this the best VR, no wait the best gaming experience ever.

The team over at the Hollywood Bowl Tunbridge Wells were very welcoming and helpful, the portal area was busy but still clean and inviting and you could see the anticipation of the other gamers waiting to play especially as each other group finished and rose out of their chairs with huge beaming smile son their faces.

I cant recommend this highly enough to anyone, get yourself down there or a more local one to yourself and try Mario Kart arcade GP VR
