Stealth 700 Gen 2 and Stealth 600 Gen 2 headsets coming to PlayStation and Xbox
If you’re a gamer, there’s a very good chance you know about or have even owned a pair of Turtle Beach headphones. We’ve reviewed almost their entire range, and have found them to be great value and consistently high performing.
It’s been a while since Turtle Beach released the Elite Atlas Aero, which earned 9.5 in our review. Now, with the next-gen of consoles incoming, they have updated two of their most popular headsets ready for the next wave of hardware.
Given the excellent consistency of Turtle Beach’s products, we’re very excited to bring you hands on reviews of the new headsets. In the meantime, here’s a rundown of the features to expect:
Stealth 700 Gen 2
Turtle Beach have made multiple improvements to the original headsets, first released back in 2017. Wireless functionality returns, through integrated wireless technology on the Xbox, and through the included USB dongle on the PlayStation. Battery life has been significantly improved, now offering a 20-hour lifespan which is up there with the best in the industry right now.
Further improvements include a refined and larger flip-to-mute mic, that is concealed within the earcup when retracted. The earcups themselves have been upgraded with Aerofit cooling gel-infused memory foam, and Turtle Beach’s new Nanoclear speakers. Holding it all together is a redesigned metal reinforced headband, promising hours of comfortable gaming.
Dual connectivity also means you can connect to your phone with Bluetooth and take calls or listen to music in tandem with your game audio.
The Stealth 700 Gen 2 is available in black, and releases for both PlayStation and Xbox family devices on the 20th September 2020.
Retail price for the Stealth 700 is £129.99 ($149.95).
Stealth 600 Gen 2
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 is a wireless headset that shares many of the new upgrades with the Stealth 700 Gen 2.
Sharing the same refined audio drivers, the Stealth 600 promises meticulously refined audio, as well as crystal clear voice comms with the new flip-to-mute mic. Glasses friendly design, introduced last year to the Turtle Beach range, means a much more comfortable experience for glasses wearers, too.
Superhuman Hearing also makes a return, with a custom EQ designed to emphasise gunfire and footfall, giving you a clear advantage in competitive gaming.
As on the Stealth 700 Gen 2, wireless connectivity comes from Xbox Wireless or a USB dongle on the PlayStation. Battery life is a very respectable 15 hours, too, so more time gaming and less time charging.
The Stealth 600 Gen 2 is available in black and white versions. They release for PS4 and PS5 on the 16th August 2020, and for Xbox One and Xbox Series X (and Series S, when they finally admit it’s coming) on the 20th September 2020.
