Another headset and another success?
Over the years Turtle beach and not only created great quality headsets with innovative and first to market features but also spotted that gap in the market where a headset is needed, be it a budget price or a premium product.
So enter the sub £50 market and great quality and frankly there is little to choose from for the Xbox One.
The Turtle Beach XO Three (XO3) brings together some of the best features of older and long standing headphones and makes it more than affordable.
Take for example the ear cups, fake leather, leather, plastic, foam, weave all types exist and each to their own but going back some time now you may remember the amazing 500X that transformed wireless headphones for the xbox for so many gamers, and to this day many of my friends still use that headset. The fabric wrapped foam was so comfortable even for a 8hr gaming session it was a genuine pleasure to wear, well now for under £50 you can have that same comfort on the XO3.
Sturdy construction is questionable on some headphones but not with the XO3, a good headband wrapped in leather make it not just durable but comfortable too and so far it seems that every box you could want ticked before getting into the sounds is done. Yeah I’m sure many of you would prefer no wires but we can’t have everything for this price point. The wire is long enough so when you snap back in frustration from your controller it doesn’t wrench the headset from your head tearing your ears off in the process. But it’s not too long either tripping you up when you go for those much needed refreshments.
Cup size is good too as I have found with some cheaper headsets this means a decrease in your ear size, not with the XO3 very comfortable again.
Now to the nuts and bolts of the sound, simply plug the 3.5mm jack into your controller (if you have a original controller you will require an adapter, available online) and you’re done. No setup, messing around or complicated settings.
All you need is the in-line control for master volume, and mute button.
With 50mm speakers too the sound quality is fantastic, no it’s not 500x or 800x quality but for a surround sound headset of this value it served me well online and saved my arse a good few times compared to single ear or stereo headsets.
All in all this is yet again indeed another success from Turtle Beach, simple design and quality performance for a low affordable price, what more could you ask for.
