For April Fools this year the legends behind APEX Legends placed a brilliant prank in Season 4: a gold upgrade for every Mozambique found.
Apex Legends may not have the 50 million monthly players that it had back when it launched, but it still has a huge following. Electronic Arts has confirmed that the battle royale shooter has 8 million-to-10 million weekly players. As a free-to-play battle royale game that’s an amount that should turn heads.
For these 8-10 million regular players there is a well known fact, the Mozambique shotgun is the worst gun to find when you first drop. It’s a fully automatic triple barrelled shotgun pistol that should do a hefty bit of damage. However whenever used it never hits its target and the recoil animation leaves the player reeling from whiplash.

However, for one day, the developers of APEX legends snuck in a little treat for those who dare. Every Mozambique shotgun that was found on the map was immediately upgraded to gold standard. This meant that the fans worst gun became the most OP gun of the game. With a supercharged fire rate, a nine-round clip, golden shotgun bolt, and a digital threat scope this handheld terror could blast its way through a Gibraltar shield without breaking a sweat.
Needless to say playing APEX Legends yesterday was an interesting experience, with players opting to pick up and use Mozambiques for the first time since the Season 2 gold version.
