The best known mix CD is back on your console for another round of Now that’s what I call sing 2. Clear your throat, pick up the mic and sing your heart out to some top pop tunes this Christmas in the bigger and better vocal masterpiece.
Locally up to 8 people can play but primarily it’s a 2 player vs or single player vocal test. With some top names (not necessarily top singers IMO) like Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, Coldplay, Jason Derula, Meghan Trainor and Walk the moon to name but a few you will have no trouble finding a song that takes your fancy or even skill level.
Now I admit, if I sang I’d be calling a glazier pretty fast and this release is no different to last years for me, my kids love it. Their favourite songs, easy to read words, background video and a mic in hand is a recipe for tone deaf blazing children’s voices for hours.
Give it time though and they pick up the words better, vocals are easier and you can see this in their scores going up and up each time they play the song. Healthy competition between them for who gets the best score soon creeps in and song choice becomes vital to the winner as they just have more heart in their song and edge out their sibling.
The great thing is how simple it all is, yet how well enjoyable it is too. The HD videos are great and really add to the feel of the game, needless to say music and any backing vocals are on point as it’s all original artists tracks. And with over 30 to kick off proceedings you will love it from the off.
New this year is the iPhone or Android app that actually allows you to sing into your phone, some seem to have had difficulty with it but others got it working well so perhaps a little work is needed there from the dev to ensure compatibility. But in addition to this it’s your music store. We are told more songs will be added on a regular basis so this should keep the game alive longer than last year. Nothing in there yet but watch your app.
Also there is a leaderboard of sorts to see how you compare to your friends and worldwide players.
SUMMARY
Karaoke at it’s finest, top songs, more on the way, HD video, kids occupied for a couple of hours it’s a parents dream (as long as you have earplugs) It’s not the most in depth game and more songs will certainly help this but overall, it does what it says on the tin and those buying it for just that will love it.
