21st June 2019 – Judgment for the PS4
From the Makers of the Acclaimed Yakuza Series: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios presents Judgment, the dramatic tale of a disgraced lawyer seeking redemption in a world rife with corruption and despair.
Investigate the Seedy Red Light District of Kamurocho: Step into the mind of private detective Takayuki Yagami and utilize innovative investigation systems to uncover the secrets that lie deep within Kamurocho’s corrupt underbelly.
When Naughty Dog did something other than Uncharted they came up with a small little title called “The Last of Us“ and the world stood in awe. Ryu Ga Gotoku studios, in Japan at least, are as big as Naughty Dog are to the west – when they decide to do something NOT called Yakuza, it’s time to get excited, sit up and take notice.
28th June 2019 – Super Neptunia RPG – PS4/Switch
Again, much like when Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios do something a little out of their comfort zone, Idea Factory are putting a new twist on to the delightful Neptunia RPG series by going 2D!
In a world where 2D games reign supreme, an organization called Bombyx Mori forces its citizens to churn out 2D games as offerings to their leader. Those who dare to use new technologies or whose games don’t meet their standards risk banishment to the soul-crushing Trial Grounds. A girl awakens in this world with no recollection of anything beyond her name, Neptune, and soon realizes she possesses great strength. With her newfound sense of heroism and a strange book known as Histoire in hand, she sets off on a journey to see if there might be more than this two-dimensional life.
Full blown 2D JRPG’s are few and far between, but when they are done well they are spectacular. Muramasa Rebirth, Odin Sphere, Golden Crown all made by Vanillaware may have to now contend with Neptunia stepping on their artful 2D toes.
We will be able to find out and judge for ourselves on the 27th June 2019 when Super Neptunia RPG comes out on the PS4 and the Switch.
