For some of us here at Total Gaming Addicts, the biggest next-gen game to look forward to is Scarlet Nexus, from Bandai Namco
With so much gaming news coming forth in the build-up to the next-gen consoles release dates, and a plethora of new games for them, it could have been easy to miss one of the trailers or information about this game.
However, never fear. As TGA’s resident Hack and Slash/JRPG enthusiast, I’ve put together all the official game trailers and information about the title into one neat and tidy article for you to enjoy.
As more information arrives, we will, of course, bring you up to date, but this is the official Scarlet Nexus story so far:
“In a far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it.
Just as humanity was entering this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a thirst for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity.
Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the onslaught from above. To this day, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.
Take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, a new recruit to the OSF aiming to become an elite psionic like the one who saved him as a child. Armed with a talent in psycho-kinesis, explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.”

Deep, Story Driven Experience
Dive into a complex story of bonds, courage and heroism crafted by minds behind the iconic Tales of Vesperia.
Our lead JRPG/Hack and Slash writer, Peter Keen, explains why he is particularly excited about Scarlet Nexus:
The pure action, hack and slash genre has been underrepresented during the current generation of consoles. The only games of note have been God of War, Devil May Cry 5, Astral Chain and the impressive Hellblade. After that though, you will be scratching the surface for titles, and in fact, will have to go back to HD remasters like God of War 3 or DMC.
That a powerful new console is going to be getting a brand new game with a distinct DMC vibe to it, at or near launch, is exciting indeed. Further adding to my intrigue is the fact that the masters of storytelling from the “Tales of ” series, specifically, Tales of Vesperia, are behind the story of Scarlet Nexus. My hype-o-meter just went up yet another notch. Throw in visuals that have blurred the lines between a smooth moving game and anime, and I’m already drooling at the prospect of playing the game.
